GeekChew No. 46: Star Trek. Big. Space. Deal.

The power couple discusses news out of San Diego Comic Con, mostly the trailers for the upcoming Wonder Woman (2:18) and Justice League (4:06) movies. We also talk about some of the Marvel stuff (7:38), from Captain Marvel to Thor: Ragnarok to Marvel on Netflix. We then jump to Bo Burnham's new comedy special on Netflix (14:31), the last two episodes from season six of Game of Thrones (12:25), Pokemon Go (14:31), and Star Trek Beyond (16:23). After that we dive into the new Netflix series Stranger Things (19:03), a fantastic new show created by the Duffer Brothers, with a great cast that includes Winona Ryder, David Harbour, and many more. Finally, we talk volume one of Monstress, a series from Image Comics written by Marjorie Liu with art by Sana Takeda (28:53).

GeekChew No. 44: It's Okay Folks, Nothing to See Here... except GODZILLA!!!

The power couple discusses the new stand-alone The Walking Dead: The Alien story from Brian K. Vaughn and Marcos Martin, available on Panel Syndicate. First, we watched HBO's The Jinx (2:16) and also discuss Marvel's plans for their Inhumans movie and the Godzilla: Resurgence movie coming out of Japan (5:01). We also have a brief discussion about the diversity of comic book characters and how the established industry is trying to increase the diversity of the characters they offer (11:26). Then we get into some new trailers, hitting The Lobster, The Accountant, and Assassin's Creed (19:28). Of course, we do talk about episode 4 of the new season of Game of Thrones (27:33) before we get into The Walking Dead: The Alien (33:26). Issue #2 of the new Black Panther series is next (39:06), and we wrap up with a discussion about an article in The Atlantic, written by David Sims, that tackles the loop that network television seems to be stuck in when developing new shows (44:28). 

GeekChew No. 42: Let's Get This Party Started! Dark Knight-style

The power couple discusses the first half of the 8-part Dark Knight III series from DC Comics, written by Frank Miller and Brian Azzarello with art by Andy Kubert and Klaus Janson. We start the week talking about some new trailers (Doctor Strange, Jason Bourne, Magnificent Seven, The Girl on the Train, X-Men: Apocalypse, and Independence Day: Resurgence); you can tell we're really "excited" about all these movies because we each use that word about ten times a piece while describing our reactions to the trailers (3:50). We the talk about the upcoming Flash movie and the ongoing Flash tv show (15:28) before briefly touching on the upcoming Punisher tv series from Netflix (18:29). Some of the best new comics from the week are next, even though Charlene read approximately none of them (19:35). We watched the latest film adaptation of MacBeth this week (24:31) and talk about the expanding podcast network of The Ringer (26:42). Next up is our first impression of the new Game of Thrones recap show After the Thrones on HBO (28:54), and we follow that up with some talk about the first episode of Game of Thrones, season 6 (30:50). Lastly, before we get to Dark Knight, we cover Beyonce's visual album Lemonade (34:07). Then, the best part: BATMAN (36:51)!   

GeekChew No. 40: Cliff-Hanger, Hanging from a Cliff

The power couple talks about the new Black Panther series - from Ta-Nehisi Coates and Brian Stelfreeze - and the first arc of Black Magick, written by Greg Rucka with art from Nicola Scott. We start this week talking about the new trailer for the next Star Wars movie, Rogue One (2:17). We the jump from Sherlock (7:44) to Brian K. Vaughn's new Twitter account @HeyBKV (8:45) to the end of the Matt Kindt and Scott Kolins series The PastAways (11:24). We also briefly chat about the upcoming sequel to the movie Edge of Tomorrow (12:25) and the final Hunger Games movie, Mockingjay Part 2 (13:32). Then we dive deep on Black Panther (15:43) and Black Magick (24:46).  

GeekChew No. 37: Season 2 of DareDevil is More of the Same and You Want Us to be Mad?

The power couple discusses the first episode of season 2 of DareDevil on Netflix. There's more tv talk as we dive in and try to catch up on the highly praised FX show, The Americans. In comics this week we talk about Superman: American Alien #5, Power Man and Iron Fist #2, and Ms. Marvel. We also discuss some interesting podcasts from the week and other exciting geek news.

We also talk about Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny, a new Netflix original movie. Comic books from this week include Doctor Strange and Descender. And in television we discuss 11.22.63, Breaking Bad, and Cooked.

The power couple discusses the new Ghostbusters trailer and other movie stuff, including Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Children of the Corn. In comics we talk the new Black Widow series and Descender. For tv consumed this week we really enjoyed Last Week Tonight, 11.22.63, Veep, The Fall, and The Bachelor. We also talk about some other podcasts like Serial, Stuff You Should Know, and Sources Say. We close it all out with Girl Scout cookies... get 'em while you can!

GeekChew No. 34: The Great Breakfast Taco Debate

The power couple discusses the second trailer released for season 2 of DareDevil and briefly talk about Spectre, the latest Bond movie that was just released for home viewing. A lot of tv talk for this week as we cover the season finale for X-Files, the second episode of 11.22.63, The Bachelor, and Unreal. A couple of new podcasts include the Minimalists and The Podcast Dude, both of which offer helpful tips for life and stuff. Awesome comics this week included Dark Knight III and Black Magick. Also, an article from The Atlantic sheds light on the secretly warring factions from disparate parts of Texas that demand satisfaction via credit for creation of the breakfast taco. 

GeekChew No. 33: Robot Arms Are My Favorite Kind of Arms

The power couple discusses the new Deadpool movie and the trailer for season 2 of DareDevil on Netflix. We debut our new metal theme music, provided courtesy of Ryan McCracken. In tv stuff we talk 11.22.63, Hulu's new mini-series based on the Stephen King book of the same name. We also hit on the second to last episode of the new X-Files. Comic book talk includes Power Man and Iron Fist, Superman: American Alien, and Lazarus. 

GeekChew No. 25: Trailers/Tig Notaro

The power couple discusses trailers for the post-summer blockbuster movie season, with highlights including Black Mass, Final Girls, and The Witch. There looks to be a whole slew of great movies on the way, and we talk first impressions about a lot of them right here. We also just recently watched the Netflix documentary Tig, which details many of the challenges of the last few years for comedian Tig Notaro, and saw Tig's new HBO stand-up special, Boyish Girl Interrupted.

The first of a shorter brand of episode, in which the power couple discusses some new trailers that have been recently released. Lots of excitement in our house following multiple viewings of the trailers for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Fantastic Four, and Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. We discuss our thoughts on each here!
