GeekChew No. 41: Dept. H and Other Things That Don't Suck

The power couple discusses the new Dark Horse on-going series from Matt and Sharlene Kindt, Dept. H. We start the week with our excitement for the season 6 premier of Game of Thrones (3:19) and then move into news about the next Spider-Man movie (8:49). We talk about some new podcasts, an NPR interview with Ta-Nehisi Coates (10:05) and Embedded (12:23). We also watched the first two episodes of the new season of The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt on Netflix (14:27). Marvel's Moon Knight #1, written by Jeff Lemire with art by Greg Smallwood, is up next. It was a great debut issue and introduction to the character that we highly recommend (15:53). The Fire Rises documentary about the Nolan Batman movie trilogy (20:20) and another viewing of Batman v. Superman (21:53) quickly followed. Then we dive into "Enough with the Canon," an article from The Atlantic by Asher Albein about the relationship between fans and canon (27:08). Finally, we get to Dept. H #1 and the great start of its locked-room mystery (38:03).

GeekChew No. 39: BABYMETAL and Black Science

The power couple focuses this week on the Godworld arc of Black Science, the book written by Rick Remender with art by Matteo Scalera, published by Image Comics. But first, in our week-in-review, we talk about watching Sailor Moon on Hulu (1:52) and share more Batman v. Superman news (4:05). We also cover NBC's live tv productions (7:21), Iron Fist on Netflix and in print (8:29), Gilmore Girls (10:37), the first arc of the newest DareDevil series by Charles Soule (12:02), images that have surfaced of movies currently in production (we're looking at you, Doctor Strange and Wonder Woman!) (13:37), DC's upcoming Rebirth (16:09), and the return of The Flash on the CW (16:51). In a rare foray into music, we also briefly discuss a newfound band (BABYMETAL) and their newly released sophomore effort (Metal Resistance) (20:37). After all that we dive into Black Science, specifically the 5-issue arc titled Godworld that just wrapped up this week with issue #21. With lots of creativity, introspection, and beautiful art, Remender and Scalera continue to take Black Science in interesting new directions.

GeekChew No. 37: Season 2 of DareDevil is More of the Same and You Want Us to be Mad?

The power couple discusses the first episode of season 2 of DareDevil on Netflix. There's more tv talk as we dive in and try to catch up on the highly praised FX show, The Americans. In comics this week we talk about Superman: American Alien #5, Power Man and Iron Fist #2, and Ms. Marvel. We also discuss some interesting podcasts from the week and other exciting geek news.

We discuss our thoughts on each here!
